Whatever our religion or beliefs, we all go through the same seasons on this planet we all share.
This time of year, in the northern half of the planet, we have our longest, darkest nights.
So what do so many of us do?
Bring in a green tree and cover it with lights that brighten our long nights.
And many of us put bright, colorful lights on our homes and in our yards.
And we light up the night, and turn the longest nights of the year into a celebration of light.
And we sense that our little efforts somehow help the whole world move once again toward the birth of a new year, with its longer, light-filled days.
I pray you may find, during this season of lights, a deep inner peace that passes all understanding, a peace dependent on absolutely nothing except the fact that you’re alive, filled with light and life, even in the darkest nights.
This little meditation may help:
I close my eyes, and see a field of light.
And I feel that light, and life, in every cell of my body,
nurturing and healing every cell.
And I know that light, and life, and love
is who and what I am, now and forever.
